Play a 4-note ascending phrase ending on A (5th), pause 2 beats, then play a 4-note descending phrase ending on D. Use only the D pentatonic scale in position 1. The second phrase should feel like it 'answers' the first.
Tip: Great melodies have conversations with themselves. Make your second phrase respond to what the first phrase said.
