Play a singable melody in 3/4 feel over a 4/4 backing in E. Your melody should feel like it naturally wants to be in 3, creating beautiful tension. Resolve the polyrhythm every 12 beats by landing on E. Keep the melody simple enough to sing along.
Tip: Complex rhythms can still be singable if the melody line has its own internal logic. Trust the natural pulse of your phrase over the mathematical complexity.
