Play phrases that start on the 'and' of beat 2 and the 'and' of beat 4 only. Each phrase is exactly 3 eighth notes long. Use A pentatonic position 2. The silence between phrases is part of the rhythm.
Tip: The space between notes has rhythm too. Off-beat entries create forward motion and surprise.
