Add the major 7th (C) to your chord tone vocabulary. C is at fret 8 string 1, fret 3 string 2, fret 10 string 5. Create phrases that outline Dbmaj7 (Db-F-Ab-C) but land on the C with particular emphasis. Make the 7th sound like a destination, not a passing tone.
Tip: The major 7th is sophisticated and slightly unresolved. It adds color without being dissonant - perfect for jazz-influenced rock phrases.
