Play a 4-note phrase ending on C, then pause for exactly 2 beats of silence. Next phrase starts on E, 4 notes ending on G, pause 2 beats. Third phrase starts on G, ends on C an octave higher. Focus on making each phrase sound like you could sing it in one breath.
Tip: Silence is part of the melody. Great singers don't just sing notes - they sing the spaces between them too.
