In position 1, create melodies using only notes that are adjacent on the fretboard (no jumps larger than 2 frets). Start on G (3rd fret, 1st string) and create a 8-note descending melody that feels like walking down stairs smoothly.
Tip: Smooth stepwise motion sounds natural because it mirrors how we speak and breathe. Big jumps can sound technical rather than musical.
