Over Db major, introduce borrowed chords: Db-Fm(iv)-Gbm(bv)-Ab7. Use appropriate chord tones for each borrowed chord while maintaining Db as the tonal center. Fm uses natural minor scale tones, Gbm introduces Cb, Ab7 resolves back to Db.
Tip: Borrowed chords are emotional detours - they add color by temporarily visiting parallel modes.
